I am headed to the UK

The best laid plans . . . . . .  as they say - I had so many things planned for the week between Christmas and New Year - to update my blog, work on artwork, load photos etc etc etc.
Well its not going to happen quite like that :O(
I have to head back to the UK to see my parents as my Dad is unwell. Yes he is being treated by the Drs. and yes he should recover but he is 84, and not is particularly good health and I feel a deep need to go and spend time with him and with my Mum and to give her a break from the stress of the last week.
So I won't be back here until late on Jan 1st so apologies to anyone who is trying to get hold of me - email me and I will reply as soon as I am able :O)
Wishing all of my followers and friends a very Happy Christmas and Holiday season.

Flower wreath with Cricut flowers

I actually had a day off in my hectic schedule and what did I do ?????
Went and player with ink, cardstock, glitter (no surprise there) and the Cricut with the
CTMH Artiste cartridge.
My darling husband was dispatched to Michaels for a foam wreath form and some pearl headed pins and this is what I made :O)

First of all I wrapped the white foam wreath base in Holiday Red ribbon which gave it a lovely shimmer.
I cut over eighty flowers - some from Colonial White cardstock, some from Ruby cardstock - I then sponged some of  the Colonial white one's with Ruby ink and some with Cranberry ink to give them different tones and shades.I then rolled them into the flower shape and used Liquid glass and glitter on them.
I then secured them in place with the pearl headed pins
Here is the wreath about 80% complete
And here it is complete - I wondered about filling the wreath with more flowers but then
decided that I actually like being able to see some of the red ribbon shimmering through the spaces.
Hope you like it as much as I do :O)

Hitomi's Christmas Tree Advent Calendar Cubby

Yesterday I saw one of my many groups of 'Lovely Ladies' and Hitomi shared a picture of the ADORABLE My Creations Cubby advent calendar which she had created.

Although the Close To My Heart Cricut Artiste cartridge has the box which fits the spaces in the cubby - many of my ladies don't own a Cricut - so I designed a box which could be cut using a paper trimmer
& would fit the 2 1/2" spaces  - and then shared this pattern with my ladies.

Hitomi cut the boxes from the different colored cardstock and made the Christmas Tree design within the area - I adore the yellow cardstock #3 which forms the star for the tree and the brown cardstock #23 which is the trunk of the tree.
Then boxes #8, #12, #13, #14, #16, #17, #18, #19, #20 in the green cardstock for the branches.
Hitomi used a blue cardstock for the rest of the boxes and as you can see decorated them with snowflakes and other Christmas images etc.

The box is made from a 7 1/2" square which is scored in a tic-tac-toe pattern every 2 1/2 inches.
Cut along one of  the score lines on each side - up to the center square and fold the sides up to make the box. Then use the CTMH 1 1/4" hole punch to cut a semi-circle out of one side :O)

Watch the fun tutorial with Monica as she gives you even more ideas x
Hope you have lots of fun with your Monogram stamps :O)

Win-A-Workshop with Monica

I entered the Win-A-Workshop competition which was to be drawn at Convention.

I sold 133 :O)

All consultants who attended convention and who met this minimum had their names put into drawing and
3 names were pulled out.   I was so excited to be one of the 3 people :O)

I won an all day workshop with the fabulous Monica Wihongi.
She was so very kind and described the whole day and took lots of photos and told the whole story on Jeanette Lynto'ns blog - click on the link below to see the story - you can see how much fun we had xxx

Mini Album gift for our band host family

Its that time again - the WLCMB are off to Carmel, IN to participate in the Bands of America Grand Nationals competition at the Lucas Oil Statdium - and once again - the fabulous Carmel Marching Greyhounds are being kind enough to host our band members.
So here is the mini album which I have made for the host family who will take care of Leo and 5 of his friends.

I used the 6x6 Memory showcase mini album as the base
then used the Lucky Level 2 paper pack to decorate it.
This the front page with the ribbon undone.
I made a pocket on the left hand side and added 3 tags for more photos.
I turned the middle pages into flag pages.
This last inside page is decorated with Dimensional elements which I have inked, painted and liquid glassed.
 All opened out :O)
The back page has a sentiment which I set up on 3D foam tape so that the photo will fit behind it.
Its taken me all day to make it but I have to confess to being thrilled with the way it turned out.
Hope you like it as much as I do :O)

This fun shaped glass bottle came from Michaels craft store for just .99 cents - a bargain :O)

Using the Moonlight Level 2 Paper Pack,  I cut a scalloped edge border using the CTMH Artiste Cricut cartridge out of black cardstock and wrapped it around the bottle, then added a strip of the Goldrush patterned paper & on top of those a piece of the Silver Shimmer Trim
Then using the C1509 Magic Potions stamp set I stamped the 'Extract of Eel' image.
The striped banner piece behind the flower is one of the Moonlight dimensional elements  & the flower was cut using the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.

And the Extract of Eel inside the bottle ???? Orange sugar sprinkles from the baking dept :O)

Hope you like it as much as I do - Love Sara x

I loved these glass test tubes which I purchased from Amazon.com - they were 6" tall.
I knew I wanted to fill them with fun treats
- so the one on the left had chocolate covered raisins which looked like they could be Pickled Toad -
& the one on the right was filled with Wilton 'eye's from the baking section at our local store
 - perfect for Eye of Owl.

I have to confess to making the display boxes from scratch and have no dimensions to give you :O(
But the cool labels were cut using the CTMH Artiste Cricut cartridge and used the stamp set C1509 - Magic Potions.  I used Bitty Sparkles on the labels for a sparkly touch.

The owl paper from the Moonlight Level 2 Paper Pack was just perfect for this project and I cut bands of Black cardstock and then Smokey plum cardstock which I scalloped the edge using the Corner Rounder with the guide removed. A band of Silver Shimmer Trim completed the center section.

I used the Just Blooms Paradise Collection with a CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut flower layered on top with the centers filled with Silver Glitz Gel Glue (AKA Squidgey Stuff if you took my class).

Hope you love my Spooky test tubes as much as I do - Love Sara x

Moonlight Halloween Mini Banner from Extravaganza

Here is a totally spooky Halloween My Creations Mini Banner which I made for my class at Extravaganza this year.
I fan folded 3 circles cut using the 2" scalloped punch and made them into the rosettes beneath each of the letters and added a circle cut using our 1 1/4" punch.
The owl was cut using the new CTMH Artiste Cricut cartridge from the Black, Smokey Plum and Whisper cardstock which comes in the level 2 paper pack - I then added more 'feathers'  - to make him look fluffier -by cutting a paper flower from the Just Blooms Paradise Collection into pieces.
Black sparkles added a fun touch to his eyes along with the eyes of the punpkins.
I added the Dimensional elements behind the rosettes and added lots of liquid glass to add a glossy surface to areas of most of them.

Finally I threaded the new Black Tulle Ribbon through the banner pieces and tied in a bow at each end.

I love the way it looks - hope you like it too  - Love Sara x

Halloween Cubby For Extravaganza

Okay I have had lots of emails asking me about the My Creations Cubby which I decorated for my class at this years Convention in Dallas where I taught at Extravaganza - so here it is :O)
I used the Moonlight level 2 paper and matching Dimensional Elements and many Cricut flowers using the Art Philosophy Cartridge.

I used the new Cricut Artiste Cartridge for making the boxes and I think they look adorable - I used this cartridge for cutting out the bat (which is hanging on fishing line) and the cat (which wobbles as I added one of the Adhesive Springs to the back of it)

I decorated the Cubby itself my mixing and painting with Smokey Plum re-inker with the Create a Shade Pearl Paint and then added more re-inker to water in the Spray Pen and spraying over the painted areas to give more depth.

I actually donated this item to Close To My Heart's Operation Smile raffle and it raised $300 - woohoo :O)

Hope you like it as much as I do - Love Sara xxx

This was this morning's fun class at Misuzu's house :O)
We had a lovely time and are going to miss Akiko who leaves to return to Japan next month :O(

We made this fun bookmark - pictured above - using the Scholastic Workshop on the Go which uses the 2 new colors of ink - Ruby and Cashmere

and this Fall themed card using the September Stamp of the month - S1209 Fall Favorites. This card features sanded cardstock and the 'Spotlight' technique.
Hope you like them :O)

Dana's 'Its' Your Day' layout

I had to share this fabulous layout - created by my very dear friend Dana Kessler.
These were photos from our fun evenings in the Media Bar - after the work had finished -
at our Dallas Convention.
Dana has used the National Scrapbooking Month stamp set - It's your Day - & you can see where she has used the fun backgrounds zig-zags & dots as backgrounds
and then used the works and images to accent the layout. Love it xxx
Now to get her to make one for me :O)
Hope you like it - Love Sara

Roomie Gifts for Band Camp

I decided to make little gifts for the other Mom's who I shared a cabin with at Band Camp.
As there were 172 kids with us at camp - I knew we had the potential for a few stressful moments
so this hand lotion which I spotted in the drug store was just perfect.
The ticket & the sheet music were stamped in Outdoor Denim ink & sponge distressed in Desert Sand ink.
I typed the saying on the computer - popped the lotion into a clear bag and added the bag topper and embellishments.
The ladies were thrilled with their little gifts
Hope you like it as much as they did - Love Sara X

Halloween Coffin Box

OMG - just how stinkin' cute is this.
The box is from the CTMH Cricut Artiste -and I love it :O)
I cut it from black cardstock then cut another base from white cardstock - cut the sides off it so I was left with this slightly smaller piece - I made a circle shaped 'mask' from a post-it note, then sponged ink onto it
- took the mask away and there is the moon.
I stamped the skeleton and then added liquid glass to the bones.
I used black brads in the centers of the bats to make them look fatter.
I think its adorable and hope you do too :O)  Love Sara

Cruise 2008 albums finally finished !!!!

Well it took me long enough I know !!!

It was a 12 day trip - 7 days around the Mediterranean & 3 days in the UK.
And I am pleased to tell you that back in February I finally finished it and took a photo of the stack of albums which I had to use to be able to contain all of the layouts
which I had made of our amazing vacation :O)
I put the ink pads next to it to give you a point of reference to you can see just how many layouts I did !!
This project was truly Close To My Heart.
The top album contains just the 3 days in the UK - the bottom 2 are of the
cruise :O)
I used the same paper, cardstock and inks throughout all 3 albums - makes life so easy.
Hope this makes you smile :O)   Love Sara x

Chisato's cute purse :O)

A few months ago one of my class members - Chisato
- walked into the class holding a darling purse -
we all 'ooohhhed' and 'aaahhhhed' over it and she told us she had made it.
We all complimented her on how cute it was and joked that we all needed one too.
It wasn't until a little while had passed when it suddenly occurred to me
that the adorable brown and white striped ribbon was Close To My Heart Ribbon!!!
OMG - what a cute way to use it - not just for cards and layouts but for your purses too :O)

Hope you like it as much as we did - Love Sara x

Scrapbook layout class at Masako's House :O)

I wanted to share the fun scrapbook layout class I teach at my dear friend Masako's house every month - we have so much fun learning new techniques.
This  month we used the Dakota WOTG paper & stamp set plus the co-ordinating stamp set and then added Sweetleaf and Buttercup cardstock to it to make a Spring/Summer layout
- not at all Western themed.
We used the White Daisy exclusive ink to distress the edges of the Sweetleaf cardstock and then used Whisper ink to distress the whisper cardstock.
We scissor distressed the barn red cardstock and stamped the line image on it (I think the stamp
looks  a bit like a fancy mustache haha) and stamped Buttercup ink on the Buttercup
cardstock for a tone on tone effect :O)
***Yes I know that the layout is the wrong way up and you need to hold your head at an angle but I can't work out how to spin the photo as it took it on my iphone and uploaded it straight from there LOL :O)***

The layout is from the new Make It From your Heart magazine - have I told you how much I love this magazine??? OMG - it is awesome - scrapbook layouts & card blueprints & cutting guides - I can highly recommend it :O)

Hope you like it as much as I do  - Love Sara x

Okay so to give you even more of an idea of what we get up to at Convention - along with the
Create n Takes, business classes, and Extravaganza classes -
here are a couple more photos which show you the fun we have :O)

Below is a photo of JuliAnne, Victoria, Dana and I with the CTMH sign - there was a table of
sparkly hats & jackets - how could we resist!!!
The photo below makes me giggle every time I see it
- Dana gave us all a turquoise bandanna and told us to get creative on how we wore it -
we didn't let her down - especially as we were also given mustaches to wear!!!

What Victoria & I didn't realise was that Kristen was in the photo too - so when this was posted we just cracked up laughing.
Hope it makes you smile as much as it does me :O)

Halloween Potions

So . . . .  what do you think of these adorable holders which I made for the over-sized test tubes which I had purchased online from Amazon?
I used the Cruicut to cut out the labels and the co-ordinating mats for them and glued them to the glass with liquid glass. The holders I made up as I went along - so sorry I don't have cutting ans scoring guides for these :O(
I used the corner rounder to scallop the edges of the Smokey Plum cardstock and layered it over Black cardstock. I used the silver adhesive trim on top of the cardstock then used a Paper flower with a cricut flower in the center. of that. Then I added silver Glitz gel glue to the center of those.
I used mini sparkles on the Pickled toad and Eye of owl labels - you probably have to zoom in on the photo to see them.
I filled one with chocolate covered raisins and the other with candy 'eyeballs' from the baking section of the grocery store - so stinkin' cute :O)

Hope you like them,  Love Sara xxx

My Beautiful Bracelet

I had to show you my gorgeous bracelet - I do have a couple more charms to add to it but wanted to share it with you so far. This is my Celebrate Close To My Heart bracelet and it represents all sorts of areas of my business with Close To My Heart. So this is what the charms represent
The butterfly was a gift from my dearest friend in CTMH - so it represents ALL of the friends I have made since  I joined CTMH 9 years ago.
The Heart is for Close To My Heart and the love that Janette Lynton - the CEO - has for us all.
The Suitcase represents my 1st cruise which I earned which was to Alaska.
The Fish represents the 2nd cruise which was the Mediterranean cruise.
The Kiwi was for the New Zealand land trip
The Palm Tree was for the Western Caribbean cruise
There is a Star Fish (waiting to be added) which represented the cruise to the Eastern Carribean cruise.
Then there is Mickey Mouse which represents the fun Conventions we have had at the Disney resorts
The Bag of Money represents the money I earn from being an Independent Consultant with CTMH - it ways for Leo to do Marching Band, both of the boys trumpet payments, my car and fun trips which we wouldn't be able to take otherwise.
And finally the Turtle was for the Hawaiian island cruise which I earned this year and the pearl is from the oyster I opened when we were on Waikiki beach.
I need another bead to represent the upcoming cruise - this time to the Southern Caribbean which I have earned and will cruise in February 2013.
Hope you like it :O)

WOOOOHOOOOO - welcome Robyn - I am so glad you have come to join us.

When I spoke to her about joining the team - Robyn wasn't sure - she didn't really want to go and do gatherings - 'thats okay' I told her 'you don't have to go and go that - but how about getting your scrapbooking products for a bonus and getting other scrapbooking products absolutely FREE'.

She loved that idea and has totally fallen in love with the beautiful damask bag in that beautiful Lagoon color which she will get free with her sign up kit.

I love the fact that we can be Consultants without being Consultants . . .

. . . . .  'Okay Sara' I can hear you say 'that title makes no sense at all"

Well it really does. I had a long conversation with my dear friend Sarah yesterday and we talked about the ways that you can be a CTMH Consultant.

The easiest way and probably the most popular way is just to be your own customer. You sign up to be a consultant and just buy your own scrapbooking supplies at a minimum of 22% discount.
You don't do gatherings and don't recruit but you have the benefit of doing your own cardmaking, papercrafting and scrapbooking with discounted and free products. Easy - right???.

The second way is again hugely popular. You become a consultant and once every couple of months your friends order items through you and you show them new techniques - this is really popular because I know so many of you get together to scrap with your friends for a night of fun.
Not only will you still get your prodects discounts but you will earn money from the products
that your friends buy.

The third way is to hold gatherings with new & established customers and encourage the people you meet to become part of your team - you earn money, vacations, awards and it becomes a business.

There is no right way or wrong way to be a consultant with Close To My Heart
- every way is the correct way -
Its your choice :O)

Join Close To My Heart and choose the way you are a consultant - click HERE :O)

Extravanganza 2012 artwork - wooden plaque

Well I thought i would give you a sneak-peak of some of the artwork which I made for my Extravaganza class in Dallas. I was thrilled to be chosen to teach again and I was give the awesome 'Moonlight' level 2 paper pack & dimension elements.
Here, I used a wooden plaque from Michaels which I inked the edges using Smokey Plum ink - I then brushed peal paint over the top. I added paper and then photo mats for the fabulous photos of my
beautiful daughter Robyn.
I made paper flowers using the Cricut ' CTMH Art Philosophy" cartridge - then used dimensional element hearts which I either covered in the Moonlight paper or inked, painted & liquid glassed.
I also inked the garden shapes wooden flowers.
New Black and White striped ribbon added another textural feel & the dimensional elements banner pieces were layered over the ribbon.
Hope you like it as much as I did :O)
